Job Description

• We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Distribution Technician to join our team.
• This role involves conducting visual inspections of overhead and underground electrical distribution facilities and equipment.
• The successful candidate will collect field data, prepare minor work orders, and compile maintenance reports, along with assisting in storm damage assessments.
• This position requires effective communication with team members, supervisors, and external clients.

• Perform visual inspections of overhead and underground electrical distribution facilities and equipment.
• Collect field data, prepare minor work orders, and compile maintenance reports.
• Assist with storm damage assessments for both overhead and underground distribution structures.
• Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and external clients.

Essential Skills

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in fieldwork and technical documentation.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to conduct surveys and manage equipment operations.
• Experience in construction, utility locating, and power distribution.
• Familiarity with blueprint reading and AutoCAD.
• Capability to survey approximately 75 poles per day with minimal supervision.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with 3rd Party Make Ready - telecom experience.
• An associate degree in Electrical Power Technology or a similar engineering degree is preferred.
• Broadband or OSP design experience is advantageous.
• Familiarity with the National Joint Utilities Notification System (NJUNS) is preferred but not required.

Work Environment

• This role involves a dynamic work environment, with a 50% field and 50% office split.
• The ideal candidate will initially shadow an experienced team member in the field and gradually transition to independently surveying projects.
• The company provides a vehicle for travel, a daily food allowance, and accommodations for assignments over two hours away from Syracuse.
• Drive time is compensated, allowing for flexibility in returning home if desired.
• Typical work locations include Buffalo, Massena, and Binghamton.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr.
