Job Title: Distribution Technician

Job Description

As a Distribution Technician, you will perform visual inspections of overhead and underground electrical distribution facilities and equipment to compile field data, prepare minor work orders, and generate maintenance reports. The role requires extensive travel.

Responsibilities

• Perform various field technical services for the operation, inspection, and maintenance of electrical distribution systems, including system inventories and audits, joint use management and permitting, pad-mount inspections, ground-line pole inspections, metering and apparatus services, and lighting audits.
• Utilize laptop computers, tablet devices, GPS, and other electronic devices to collect field data for input into database software.
• Develop a working knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), electric utility construction standards, and telephone, cable, and other communication facilities.
• Operate necessary equipment to take measurements on utility poles and mid-span facilities, perform pole inspections, and inspect and perform maintenance on pad-mount equipment.
• Meet weekly billable goals as defined by project guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

• Experience in telecommunication or distribution systems.
• Ability to start as a fielder and progress to a designer role, learning field operations before office designing.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and distribution design.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma required; Associate's Degree in Engineering or similar discipline preferred.
• Electric utility or telecommunications field experience preferred.
• Familiarity with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) preferred.
• Knowledge of MS Office products is desired.
• No prior experience or certifications required.
• Valid driver's license is required.

Work Environment

Work typically involves four 10-hour days, Monday through Thursday, with Fridays off. The schedule may include office work on Monday and Tuesday and remote work on Wednesday and Thursday once fully operational. Travel is primarily regional, involving day trips, but overnight travel may be necessary. Extensive travel is a key component of this role.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Gahanna, Ohio.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.50/hr.
