Job Description
The Operations Director is responsible for ensuring all aspects of manufacturing, quality, and on-time delivery are achieved while continuously improving processes and increasing operational efficiency in the aerospace industry.
Responsibilities
- Manage entire process flow of production, including materials acquisition, production scheduling, quality, and delivery.
- Ensure manufacturing processes run smoothly and achieve cost and quality objectives.
- Provide leadership to operations team, including electronics technicians and supply chain employees.
- Select and manage supply chain partners to maintain appropriate inventory levels of high-quality and cost-effective components and subassemblies.
- Lead the production and supply chain team and processes in supporting sales and customer needs.
- Create and maintain master schedule, capacity, and production plans.
- Ensure continued compliance using FAA MIDO-approved quality management system.
- Maintain a gap assessment of QMS vs. AS9100D with the mid-term goal to achieve AS9100 certification.
- Ensure incoming materials and final assembled products achieve quality and reliability standards.
- Lead and oversee manufacturing to continuously reduce variation and waste, improve quality, cost, and throughput.
- Lead the implementation of ERP systems.
- Lead actions to continually move towards a QMS compliant with AS9100D.
- Provide guidance to the Manufacturing Supervisor on daily and weekly scheduling of manufacturing orders.
- Oversee materials planning, order parts and subassemblies, and release shop order kits to production according to the production schedule.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and objectives to the Manufacturing Supervisor, Manufacturing Engineer, and Quality Manager.
- Ensure staffing is appropriate for current and future production requirements and adjust staffing as necessary to meet cost and delivery objectives.
- Coordinate with Sales Operations on customer priorities, product availability, and unique customer requirements.
- Compile, report, and act on Operations metrics.
Essential Skills
- BS in Engineering, Operations Management, or a technical field.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
- Ability to teach, coach, and lead people.
- 2 years of supervisory/management experience in manufacturing or supply chain with a team of 5 reports.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Operations leadership experience in the UAS industry.
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
- Experience achieving AS9100 registration.
- ERP implementation experience in an aerospace company, highly preferred.
Work Environment
This role is onsite full-time in White Salmon, WA, across the river from Hood River, OR. The position follows a 9/80 schedule, providing every other Friday off. As part of the leadership team, this role reports directly to the CEO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
