Cost Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated Cost Tracking Specialist to support our operations group within the midstream Oil & Gas industry. This role involves managing job numbers and financial aspects of projects, ensuring adherence to project budgets, and understanding the equipment needs for various job types.

Responsibilities

• Analyze project costs by examining requirements, specifications, and related documents to ensure alignment with the budget.
• Track actual spending on labor, materials, and subcontractors against budgeted amounts.
• Identify and analyze discrepancies between estimated and actual costs to pinpoint cost drivers.
• Recommend cost-saving measures to reduce expenses and enhance project efficiency.
• Maintain up-to-date cost databases, models, and historical cost records.

• Strong analytical skills for data analysis, trend identification, and financial model creation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, MS Navigation, and experience with cost-accounting, ERP, or project management software such as Track.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with field operators and leadership.
• Meticulous attention to detail in tracking and reporting costs accurately.
• Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, maintain accurate records, and meet deadlines.

• Experience in cost control, contract administration, billing systems, project support, cost accounting, and schedule management.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience in the industry is required.
• Industrial experience is essential.
• Potential to progress to manage a team or a business segment, with opportunities for salary increases based on performance.

The position is part of a team with currently 6 Cost Trackers. You may choose to work from our offices in Signal Hill, Bakersfield, or Houston, with a preference for Signal Hill. The role offers opportunities for career advancement within the team or into specialized business segments.

This is a Contract position based out of Signal Hill, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr.
