Description
Controls Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the electrical and process controls portions of new construction projects as well as value-engineering and process optimizing the existing plants with new and updated process control. Will program PLCs (Allen Bradley, SLC 500/505, CompactLogix as well as Automation Direct and Schneider) and provide electrical design through commissioning. 25-30% travel.
Other duties may include:
- Effectively plan and execute installation and commissioning of new systems
- Generate weekly status reports for projects throughout duration of the deployment for process stakeholders to review
- Use, develop, and update Engineering Standards to current engineering best practices
- Perform all tasks in compliance with Alltech Engineering standards
- Partner with site leadership to develop, implement and track Key Performance Indicators for all functions to further foster culture of continuous improvement and accountability
- Deploy and manage a centralized data historian for all plants on the controls network, and identify and generate plant-based KPIs against which to report on monthly
- Training and teaching others on Allen Bradley controls
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering or other engineering degree
- 2-5 years relative Controls/PLC programming experience
- Control panels
- Networking, ethernet
- AutoCAD
PREFERRED:
- Allen Bradley PLCs
- Manufacturing experience in relative industry for continuous manufacturing life cycle (i.e. bulk material handling with conveyors)
- Must be a self-starter, highly motivated, and reliable
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in core technologies for client: drying, distillation, pneumatic conveying, fermentation, rotating equipment, heat transfer, general plant utilities (steam, compressed air)
- Knowledge and / or experience in process excellence and performance improvement tools, techniques, and roadmaps such as: Lean, PDCA, Six Sigma belts, Kaizen, Process mapping, waste reduction, etc
- Experience in coaching and influencing leaders; collaboration across various levels of the organization and reaching alignment on goals, targets, etc
- Must have the ability to work in hot conditions and in occasionally dusty environments
- Must have knowledge of ISA electrical diagrams, and know general NFPA 70E standards and requirements

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
