Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Construction Quality Control Manager (QCM) & Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to lead quality assurance, compliance, and site safety efforts for a $20M federal historic preservation project at Mesa Verde National Park in Southwestern Colorado.
This high-profile project involves the rehabilitation of the Chapin Mesa Archaeological Museum and 8 National Park Service residential buildings within the Chapin Mesa Historic District. The selected candidate will play a critical leadership role in ensuring all work is executed in accordance with contract requirements, quality standards, safety regulations, and historic preservation guidelines.
As the QCM & SSHO, you will manage the project's Construction Quality Control (CQC) Program, including the Preparatory, Initial, and Follow-Up Phases of inspection for all definable features of work. You will oversee quality inspections, safety compliance, subcontractor coordination, testing and documentation, while serving as the primary point of contact for project quality and safety matters.

Scope of Work:
- Historic masonry and chimney restoration
- Wood window and exterior wood element restoration
- Roof replacements
- Door replacements and building upgrades
- Interior renovations, including finishes, cabinetry, and appliances
- Mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, electrical, and telecommunications upgrades
- Utility infrastructure improvements
- Drainage and site development improvements

Responsibilities:
- Manage and execute the project Construction Quality Control (CQC) Plan, including the preparatory, initial, and follow-up phases of control for each definable feature of work
- Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific quality control plans to ensure compliance with contract requirements, industry standards, and applicable codes
- Perform quality inspections throughout all phases of construction to verify conformance with design specifications, workmanship standards, and safety requirements
- Oversee field quality activities, including materials testing, inspections, and workmanship evaluations, to ensure adherence to established quality procedures
- Review project contracts, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to confirm scope accuracy and quality compliance
- Track, analyze, and report quality metrics, identifying trends, deficiencies, and opportunities for continuous improvement
- Partner with project managers, contractors, subcontractors, and field teams to proactively resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions
- Maintain accurate and audit-ready documentation, including inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), corrective actions, testing records, and quality control logs
Qualifications:
Required
- Proven experience in construction site management role with a focus on Quality Control Management (QCM), Construction Quality Control (CQC), or construction inspection on federal projects
- USACE Construction Quality Management for Contractors (CQM-C) Certification
- Experience serving as the QCM/ CQC Manager on federal construction projects valued at $10M or prior experience supporting a federal government quality control program
- Strong understanding of federal construction requirements, contract administration, project coordination, and CQC plan development
- Experience identifying root causes of quality issues and implementing effective corrective actions
- Knowledge of construction inspection procedures, materials testing, quality documentation, and safety regulations
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional quality and compliance standards
Preferred
- Experience with historic restoration, renovation, or National Park Service projects is highly desirable
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cortez, CO.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $43.27 - $62.50/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
