Construction Quality Control Inspector

Job Description

This role focuses on ensuring the quality and accuracy of mechanical and plumbing systems within a fabrication shop environment. You will review construction and fabrication drawings, inspect assembled systems, and support the fabrication team to verify that all work meets design specifications for HVAC and plumbing systems on large commercial, healthcare, education, and data center projects.

Responsibilities

• Work on-site in the fabrication shop to review mechanical and plumbing shop drawings and verify that systems are fabricated, built, and assembled according to the approved construction and fabrication documents.
• Inspect HVAC and plumbing systems in the fabrication shop before they are shipped to job sites, confirming that all components meet quality and design requirements.
• Conduct audits of fabricated mechanical systems to identify discrepancies, quality issues, or deviations from drawings and standards.
• Collaborate closely with the fabrication team to provide guidance on correctly building HVAC and mechanical systems in alignment with design intent.
• Use measuring tools, including tape measures, to confirm dimensions and tolerances of fabricated components match the drawings.
• Document findings from inspections and audits and communicate issues clearly to the fabrication team for correction.
• Support continuous improvement of quality control processes within the fabrication shop by sharing observations and recommendations.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on ability to use a tape measure accurately for verifying dimensions and layouts.
• Knowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC and plumbing, within a construction or fabrication context is a plus
• High school diploma or equivalent education.
• Interest in working for a mechanical contractor and gaining experience in a fabrication shop environment.
• Ability to work on projects in sectors such as healthcare, education, data centers, and large commercial buildings.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cincinnati, OH.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
