What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Project Estimator position at Actalent?
Seeking an Estimator for a GC in Milwaukee that specializes in Commercial ground up construction across Southeastern Wisconsin.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all preconstruction activities from project pursuit through transition to construction.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and subcontractors while delivering preconstruction services.
- Develop site logistics plans, project schedules, and general conditions estimates.
- Solicit, review, and analyze subcontractor bids to ensure competitive and comprehensive pricing.
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs and prepare accurate cost estimates for all building systems.
- Manage MEPFP coordination and maintain quality control throughout preconstruction phases.
- Maintain historical cost and schedule data to support future estimating and decision-making.
Interdepartmental Collaboration
- Work closely with project management teams to ensure seamless project handoffs.
- Organize and lead project kick-off meetings, including preparing agendas and documenting minutes.
- Participate in client-facing preconstruction meetings to support successful project delivery.
- Mentor and develop preconstruction team members, fostering growth and continuous improvement.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field with at least five years of experience in project management and/or estimating for a construction manager or general contractor;
- OR
- High school diploma/GED with a minimum of ten years of experience in project management and/or estimating for a construction manager or general contractor.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of construction systems, project management, scheduling, and cost estimating.
- Proficiency in construction software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, OST, BIM, Pantera, Destini Estimator) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid Wisconsin driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $100000.00/hr.
