Job Title: Construction Materials Technician
Job Description
We are seeking an entry-level Construction Materials Technician to join our team. The role involves testing concrete for slump, density, and moisture in a laboratory setting. Candidates will receive in-house training and will work closely with project managers, engineering technicians, client representatives, and contractors to ensure project requirements and testing standards are met.
Responsibilities
- Test concrete for slump, density, and moisture in the lab.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, engineering technicians, client representatives, and contractors regarding construction site requirements and testing results.
- Transport material samples with identifying documentation to the laboratory for further testing and analysis.
- Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observations in written and digital reports for daily transmittal to the Project Manager.
- Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas.
- Assist with scheduling and dispatching of Technicians to project sites.
- Adhere to strict safety standards.
- Provide clear documentation of findings and results.
- Progressively take on increased training and responsibility in work assignments.
Essential Skills
- Strong communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills for logging daily field reports and sending emails.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Certifications such as ACI level are a plus.
- Previous experience in construction materials testing is advantageous.
- Bachelor's or associate degree in civil engineering, geology, geoscience, or a related field.
Work Environment
The work environment involves typical working hours from Monday to Sunday, with shifts ranging from 8 to 12 hours per day. During the summer, expect to work more hours compared to the winter. Due to industry nature, 40-hour work weeks are not guaranteed. Overtime is available after 40 hours. The company offers hands-on training for entry-level civil, geotech, and environmental roles, and covers certifications and additional training costs. As an employee-owned firm, there is potential for profit sharing.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr.
