Job Description
The Configuration Specialist is responsible for organizing and coordinating configuration and document management tasks, including reviews, releases, and publications, within established configuration plans. This role requires proposing changes to these plans when necessary. The specialist ensures that engineering documentation releases for hardware and software deliverables are completed according to prescribed workflows and works closely with other departments such as engineering teams and procurement to ensure adherence to processes and maintain fluidity throughout workflow execution. Additionally, the role involves participating in the definition, implementation, and improvement of configuration and document management standards, formats, and new tools, as well as in process improvement initiatives, project meetings, and audits.
Responsibilities
- Organize and coordinate configuration and document management tasks within established plans.
- Ensure engineering documentation releases for hardware and software are completed following prescribed workflows.
- Collaborate with engineering teams and procurement to ensure adherence to processes.
- Participate in the definition, implementation, and improvement of configuration and document management standards and tools.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives and make recommendations as applicable.
- Participate in relevant project meetings and audits.
Essential Skills
- Data entry
- Software documentation
- Software configuration
- 3 years' experience in configuration management within aerospace, defense, or another highly regulated industry
- Strong experience with hardware and software documentation releases
- Familiarity with coding for reviewing and releasing software documentation
- Knowledge of configuration management techniques
- Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software is an asset
- Certificate in information management or equivalent is an asset
- Background in software documentation
- Customer service skills
Work Environment
The work environment requires being on-site for four days a week, with remote work available on Fridays.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.
