Job Title: Compounding Technician - EmulsionJob Description

The Compounding Technician - Emulsion works on first shift (6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) in a manufacturing environment, preparing and processing citrus-based flavor emulsions and related products. This role operates production equipment, performs precise calculations, follows GMP and SOP guidelines, and documents all activities accurately while supporting quality control and sample lab operations.

Responsibilities
  • Operate compounding and production equipment in accordance with GMP and SOP requirements, including performing temperature checks and monitoring processing conditions.
  • Complete batch records thoroughly and accurately for all production runs, ensuring full compliance with regulatory and internal documentation standards.
  • Perform calculations needed for batching, blending, and product specifications, and verify results to ensure accuracy before and during production.
  • Conduct product inspections during and after processing to confirm quality, consistency, and adherence to established standards.
  • Prepare and provide product samples for quality control testing, coordinating with the lab to support timely analysis and release.
  • Record all required data points, including weights, temperatures, times, and process parameters, in appropriate logs and systems.
  • Work within the sample lab to combine and pull samples for clients, ensuring proper labeling, handling, and documentation.
  • Handle weighing, compounding, blending, batch mixing, and batch making activities for emulsions and other flavor products.
  • Follow established procedures for distillation, purification, and production processes related to citrus essences, emulsions, extractions, sprays, and similar products.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, adhering to all safety protocols when working with chemicals and expensive ingredients.
  • Collaborate and communicate clearly with colleagues at various levels, providing updates on batch status, issues, and documentation as needed.
  • Work independently to manage assigned batches and tasks, ensuring that all specifications, calculations, and documentation are completed correctly and on time.
Essential Skills
  • High school diploma (HS degree) with strong attention to detail.
  • Previous experience working in a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) environment.
  • Compounding experience in a manufacturing setting, including batch making, blending, and mixing.
  • Ability to perform accurate calculations related to batch sizes, product specifications, and process parameters.
  • Experience with weighing, compounding, distillation, purification, and production processes.
  • Capability to follow detailed SOPs and process instructions with precision.
  • Strong documentation skills, including accurate recording of data points and completion of batch records.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks while maintaining quality and compliance.
  • Comfort working with chemicals and high-value ingredients in a production environment.
  • Solid communication skills to interact effectively with colleagues across different levels of the organization.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in production or manufacturing environments involving flavor, chemical, or related industries.
  • Familiarity with batch making and batch mixing processes for emulsions and similar products.
  • Ability to quickly learn unique, detail-specific processes and adapt to specialized manufacturing procedures.
  • Strong numerical aptitude to handle various calculations for product specifications and process adjustments.
  • Demonstrated reliability and consistency in following GMP and quality control procedures.
  • Comfort working in a small, family-owned business culture with a focus on both productivity and team engagement.
Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing-type setting focused on producing citrus flavor products such as essences, emulsions, extractions, and sprays. The position operates on first shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. You will wear a company-provided uniform while working with production equipment, chemicals, and expensive ingredients. The culture is that of a family-owned company that values a 'work hard, play hard' mindset, with straightforward communication and interaction across various levels. The environment supports independent work, requiring someone who is detail-oriented, capable of handling calculations for product specifications, and diligent with documentation. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Abingdon, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
