Job Description
The Civil Superintendent is responsible for overseeing various project work activities, including earthwork, site grading, flatwork, surveying and site layout, concrete installation, deep foundations, drilled piers, underground piping, grounding, and ductbanks. The role involves overall supervision of the construction effort, ensuring safety, productivity, efficient use of materials and equipment, material management, scheduling, engineering, and contractual performance. Building effective client and subcontractor relationships is essential, as well as collaborating with project management to develop and implement project procedures and standards.
Responsibilities
- Supervise construction efforts, ensuring safety, productivity, and quality.
- Manage subcontractor contractual compliance for civil construction activities.
- Develop client and subcontractor relationships, interfacing with representatives.
- Collaborate with project management to develop project procedures and standards.
- Authorize purchase requisitions and field design change requests.
- Ensure overall project safety, reviewing safety documentation regularly.
- Complete daily field reports and document construction progress.
- Assess future work activities using subcontractors' reports.
- Develop marked-up and as-built drawings for record set documents.
- Direct subcontractors to comply with project schedules and track progress.
- Verify material deliveries meet specifications and are stored properly.
- Coordinate with QA/QC Manager to ensure welders are qualified.
- Witness equipment setting and alignment.
- Walk down systems for testing compliance and sign off completed tests.
- Develop punch lists for items out of compliance or incomplete.
- Verify current drawing revisions are used in the field.
- Understand and execute project scope and changes.
- Oversee craft supervision and project staffing.
- Provide oversight of project site material and tool management.
- Supervise daily field construction efforts and subcontractor direction.
- Read, interpret, and understand isometric, structural, and P&ID drawings.
- Comply with all policies and standards.
- Experience in construction, civil construction, and construction management.
- Background in heavy industrial construction, particularly in Oil, Gas, & Chemicals and Power Generation industries.
- Experience in site construction and subcontractor management.
- OSHA 30 certification.
- Bachelor's degree with 7 years of construction management or craft supervision experience, or Associate degree with 9 years, or High School Diploma/GED with 11 years.
- Excellent communication skills, strong leadership skills, and a strong safety focus.
- Experience with transmission line projects.
- Strong understanding of structural drawings and P&ID's.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $60.00 - $65.00/hr.
