Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Civil Inspector to serve as the onsite project representative and liaison to the owner/client. The role involves performing all required aspects of project contract administration and construction inspection for IDOT projects. The inspector will prepare design calculations, quantity take-offs, and cost estimates, while working closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects. The successful candidate will lead and attend client meetings, supervise, review, and mentor staff, and assist with project administrative activities, document controls, and project scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the onsite project representative and liaison to the owner/client.
• Perform all required aspects of project contract administration.
• Conduct construction inspection for IDOT projects.
• Prepare design calculations, quantity take-offs, and cost estimates.
• Collaborate with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
• Lead and attend client meetings.
• Supervise, review, and mentor staff.
• Assist with project administrative activities, document controls, and project scheduling.
  
  

Essential Skills

• Construction inspection experience, particularly with roadway and transportation engineering.
• Proficiency in MicroStation and civil engineering principles.
• Experience with QA/QC inspections and roadway design and construction.
• B.S. in Civil Engineering.
• 4 years of experience working as an Inspector on IDOT projects.
• PE license or ability to obtain it within a year.
• Working knowledge and experience with state and regional standards.
• IDOT Documentation of Contract Quantities Certification.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  
  

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Knowledge of MicroStation preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
  
  

Work Environment

This role supports IDOT projects and involves being in the field most days. During the winter, when fieldwork slows down, the individual will engage in design work with the design team. It is essential for the candidate to be interested in learning the design aspect, specifically MicroStation, as the company does not implement layoffs during the winter. There is an opportunity for the individual to grow into a Project Manager role and to mentor and train others.

This is a Permanent position based out of Rosemont, IL.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
