Job Title: Civil CAD Technician

Job Description

As a Civil CAD Technician, you will produce and draft foundational 2D basemaps and plan sheets that support gas distribution and transmission projects. You will work with GIS exports, aerial imagery, survey data, and other sources to create drawing sets that serve as the foundation for these projects. Additionally, you will apply and ensure drafting standards are met, including symbols, line types, text styles, and annotations.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers and CAD technicians/designers to clarify project scope, resolve issues, and deliver precise basemap representations.
• Utilize the redline process to maintain compliance.
• Contribute to CAD standards development, drafting tools, and best practices across the department.
• Visit the field on a quarterly basis to gain a visual understanding of projects.
• Perform additional assignments as needed to advance departmental and organizational objectives.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in drafting and AutoCAD.
• Experience with utility drafting, base mapping, and utility design.
• Knowledge of mechanical design, utility relocation, and utility construction.
• Familiarity with underground utilities, gas distribution, power delivery, and power distribution.
• Understanding of right of way considerations and CAD processes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• 0-2 years of drafting experience preferred.
• AutoCAD Certification is a plus.
• Ability to read and understand CAD drawings, schematics, and maps.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Naperville, IL.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00/hr.
