Job Title: Civil CAD Designer (100% remote, contract basis)

Job Description

The Civil CAD Designer develops detailed 2D and 3D drawings for civil engineering projects, working closely with engineers and architects to transform design concepts into accurate technical plans. This role focuses on preparing site layouts, grading plans, utility plans, and roadway profiles while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. The designer also maintains organized project documentation and occasionally visits project sites to gather data and verify existing conditions, all within a collaborative and supportive team environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings for civil engineering projects using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Collaborate with engineers and architects to interpret design concepts and translate them into precise technical plans.
• Prepare site layouts, grading plans, utility plans, and roadway profiles for civil infrastructure projects.
• Revise and update drawings based on engineering feedback, design changes, and field data.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant local, state, and federal regulations and standards.
• Maintain organized records of drawings, revisions, and related project documentation.
• Conduct occasional field visits to gather site data and verify existing conditions for design accuracy.
• Coordinate with project team members to ensure timely completion of drafting and design deliverables.
• Apply civil engineering and drafting principles to support municipal infrastructure and related projects.

Essential Skills

• Civil Engineering degree or Associate’s degree or certification in Drafting, CAD Technology, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in civil drafting and design, preferably supporting municipal infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D.
• Ability to develop accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawings for civil engineering applications.
• Ability to interpret engineering and architectural design concepts and convert them into technical plans.
• Knowledge of civil design elements such as site layouts, grading, utilities, and roadway profiles.
• Ability to revise and update drawings based on feedback and field information.
• Understanding of local, state, and federal regulations affecting civil engineering design.
• Strong organizational skills for managing drawings, revisions, and project documentation.
• Ability to perform occasional field visits to collect data and verify conditions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or an Associate’s degree in drafting or a related discipline.
• Experience designing for local municipalities, with experience in the Toledo area considered a plus.
• Experience in drafting, design, and civil engineering principles.
• Certification in Drafting, CAD Technology, or a related technical field.
• Experience working in small, close-knit project teams.
• Comfort working in a primarily computer-aided design environment.

Work Environment

The role operates in a professional office-style setting with the flexibility to work fully from home. The position is heavily focused on computer-aided design, with approximately 90% of the work performed using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and related software tools. You will work as part of a small, close-knit team that values collaboration and clear communication. Occasional field visits may be required to gather site data and verify existing conditions, but the core of the work remains desk-based in a remote environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Perrysburg, OH.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
