Job Title: CAD Technician

Job Description

As a Prototyping Lab Technician, you will utilize various prototyping tools such as 3D printers and laser cutters to build and deliver mechanical prototypes and industrial design models in a fast-paced environment for internal customers and executives. You will help identify opportunities to streamline operations including faster turnaround, lower cost, and improved quality. Additionally, you will help grow the team and expand in-house capabilities through your passion for learning, conducting research, experimentation, and making well-informed recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Utilize CAD software to design, modify, and repair files for prototyping
• Operate and maintain 3D printers and other shop equipment
• Carry out post-processing of the printed and machined parts
• Assemble and/or modify parts using a variety of shop tools and techniques
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in the lab
• Be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed within an open, collaborative peer environment

Essential Skills

• Educational background in design, manufacturing, model making, or equivalent work experience
• Experience with 3D printers of different technologies such as Polyjet, SLA, FDM, etc., and basic shop tools
• Good working knowledge of CAD software such as Creo, Rhino, Fusion
• Demonstrated commitment to learning, passion for tackling new challenges, and ability to respond quickly to feedback and changing contexts
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced environment

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in sanding, painting, and finishing parts
• Experience working with vendors

Work Environment

You will work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment from 12pm to 8pm, with 5 hours of overtime per week. The role supports new devices that will be in customers' homes. The lab setting is open, collaborative, and encourages continuous learning and skill development.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00/hr.
