Job Description
We are seeking a skilled CAD Drafter/Designer II to join our team in the Distribution group. The role involves completing drafting assignments on various types of electrical and control drawings, supporting remote office CAD workloads, and coordinating with CAD leads across different locations.
Responsibilities
- Complete drafting assignments on Protection & Control, SCADA, and Communications drawings, including Single Line Diagrams, Schematics, and Control Building Layouts.
- Draft Physical Electrical drawings such as General Arrangement, Electrical Plans, and Structural Details.
- Support remote office overflow CAD workload, coordinating with other CAD leads.
- Create and modify drawings from engineer-provided markups with attention to detail.
Essential Skills
- Associate degree from an accredited institution preferred, or a high school diploma/Drafting certificate with additional experience.
- 6 months or more of drafting and detailing experience with AutoCAD and/or Microstation.
- Knowledge of drafting principles, techniques, and procedures.
- Proficiency with vector and raster drawing files manipulation in AutoCAD and MicroStation.
- Strong professional verbal and written communication skills within a team environment.
- Highly organized and efficient in a fast-paced engineering/production environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in a utility doing distribution drafting is preferred.
- Experience with file sharing, document management, and collaboration tools such as ProjectWise, FTP, and SharePoint.
- Ability to understand and implement a wide range of client CAD standards.
- Experience with 3-D modelling in Autodesk Revit, Inventor, Autocad, Bentley Open Utilities, and MicroStation.
- Program customization knowledge of VBA and/or AutoLisp.
Work Environment
The work environment involves a fast-paced engineering/production setting that requires proficiency with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. The role demands strong communication and organizational skills to efficiently manage tasks
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.
