Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Buyer to handle Procurement & Contracting responsibilities including proposal support, supplier management, risk mitigation, and compliance with government regulations. The ideal candidate will also manage purchase orders and conduct negotiations and terms analysis.
Responsibilities
- Conduct price/cost analysis for government contracts and proposals.
- Evaluate supplier capabilities, facilitate communication, and monitor performance.
- Ensure proper risk assessments are conducted for purchase orders.
- Ensure compliance with export control laws, certifications, and contractual obligations.
- Review supplier terms and conditions, recommend changes, and mitigate risks.
- Execute and monitor purchase order processing, modifications, and closeouts.
- Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline, plus a minimum of six (6) years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong understanding of FAR/DFARS flow-down requirements.
- Familiarity with government compliance guidelines regarding equipment purchases.
- Experience with RFQ/RFP processes including creation, administration, and changes.
- Understanding of Prime Contract Types and their impact on purchase order requirements.
- Ability to assess Commerciality Assertions and document Intellectual Property Rights under Prime Contracts.
- Basic understanding of cost accounting principles for price/cost analysis and proposal support.
- Proficiency in ERP & Procurement Systems, specifically Costpoint within the purchasing module.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to maintain detailed contractual and procurement documentation.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
- Must be eligible for clearance.
This position is 100% remote but may occasionally require onsite meetings in Huntsville with the team in rented office space. The role involves interacting with PMs across four programs via email daily, participating in weekly status meetings, and working with vendors through a portal. The company is a small, growing organization with direct exposure to senior-level leadership and program managers across multiple programs.

This is a Contract position based out of Huntsville, AL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $33.00 - $47.00/hr.
