Job Title: AutoCAD Drafter / CAD Technician

Job Description

This role offers the opportunity to support telecommunications and utility projects by creating detailed underground and aerial fiber layouts using AutoCAD and ArcGIS. You will contribute to permitting, mapping, and construction documentation for telecom and utility clients as well as municipalities, helping deliver accurate, field-ready plans in a growing industry.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify underground and aerial fiber layout drawings for telecommunications and utility projects using AutoCAD.
• Generate land base prints in AutoCAD for use by field teams.
• Prepare and complete utility plan sets in AutoCAD for use during construction activities.
• Produce permit drawings that meet the requirements of various permitting authorities and municipalities.
• Perform mapping and drafting tasks to support telecom and utility design work.
• Import and export various file types between drafting, design, GIS, and AutoCAD systems.
• Compile comprehensive job books and documentation packages upon project completion.
• Collaborate with team members in the office to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timely delivery of project drawings and documents.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD for drafting and design work.
• Ability to produce clear, accurate construction and utility plan sets.
• Capability to create permit drawings that comply with permitting authority standards.
• Strong attention to detail when preparing land base prints and job documentation.
• Basic understanding of telecommunications or utility layouts, including underground and aerial fiber routes.
• Ability to manage multiple file formats and perform import/export tasks between AutoCAD and related systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with ArcGIS for mapping and GIS-related tasks.
• Prior experience in the telecommunications industry, particularly with outside plant (OSP) design.
• Exposure to right-of-way, utility distribution, or power distribution drafting.
• Interest in working and growing within the telecommunications and utility engineering field.
• Willingness to learn and participate in available training to expand technical skills.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Milwaukee, WI.

The pay range for this position is $35000.00 - $50000.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Milwaukee,WI.
