- Ph.D. in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Deep understanding of quantum systems, including entanglement, mode decomposition, nonlinear generation of quantum states, and spin physics.
- Proficiency with optical systems, including laser systems, optical design, precision coupling, free-space alignment, and photon detection techniques.
- Hands-on experience with instrumentation for chip-scale photonics testing, including precision fiber alignment, instrument coordination and synchronization, and rigorous data validation.
- Strong programming skills in Python, MATLAB, or similar languages for data analysis, instrument control, and experimental automation.
- Ability to present and document scientific results clearly using graphs, mathematical analysis, and structured scientific writing.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-disciplinary research teams and contribute to shared technical deliverables.
- Commitment to maintaining and promoting workplace safety in laboratory and experimental environments.
- Background in integrated photonics design and familiarity with Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) simulation tools.
- Experience with simulation platforms such as COMSOL and CST or comparable electromagnetic and photonics simulation tools.
- Familiarity with high-speed electronics design, including PCB layout and optoelectronic packaging.
- Experience with nanofabrication techniques such as electron-beam lithography and etching.
- Active interest in publishing research results and contributing to the broader scientific community through conferences and journals.
This role operates in a research-focused laboratory environment centered on quantum and optical systems. You will work hands-on with laser systems, chip-scale photonics test setups, precision fiber alignment tools, and automated instrumentation for measurement and data collection. The position involves designing and running experiments that may require careful control of environmental conditions such as temperature, vibration, and magnetic fields to ensure robust device performance. Collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams is integral, with regular technical discussions, data reviews, and joint development of prototypes and test benches. The environment emphasizes rigorous scientific methods, high-quality documentation, and a strong culture of safety in all laboratory and experimental activities.
