Application Development Engineer

Overview

As an Application Developer, you will design, build, and maintain software solutions that address complex business challenges. Leveraging modern development practices, frameworks, and technologies, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, high-quality applications that support critical business operations.

Working within an Agile environment and following the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), you will contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, from solution design and development to testing, deployment, and ongoing support. Success in this role requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with customers, solution architects, and development teams to design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain software solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality applications that meet business and technical requirements.
• Translate technical concepts and solutions into clear, understandable information for non-technical stakeholders.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application issues while providing support for production environments.
• Contribute to code reviews, technical discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist team members with implementation efforts, knowledge sharing, and problem resolution.
• Develop an understanding of the business processes supported by technical solutions to ensure applications deliver meaningful business value.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or an advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
• Experience developing front-end applications using modern technologies, including:
• TypeScript (Angular, React, or similar frameworks)
• JavaScript (AngularJS, jQuery, or similar)
• CSS frameworks such as Bootstrap, Font Awesome, or similar technologies
• Experience developing back-end applications using technologies such as:
• Java, Python, or .NET
• Frameworks including Spring Boot, .NET Core, Flask, or similar
• ORM technologies such as JPA, Entity Framework Core, or equivalent
• Automated testing frameworks such as JUnit, PyTest, xUnit, or similar

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with relational database management systems, including Oracle, MariaDB/MySQL, and SQL Server.
• Experience with Agile software development methodologies and CI/CD pipelines.
• Working knowledge of object-oriented design principles and design patterns.
• Familiarity with cloud-native application architecture and modern software engineering practices.
• Experience with database automation and migration tools such as Liquibase, Entity Framework Core migrations, or similar solutions.

This is a Contract position based out of Waltham, MA.

The pay range for this position is $80.00 - $100.00/hr.
