What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accessioning Technician position at Actalent?
The responsibilities of the Accessioning Technologist are to perform duties including but not limited to receiving and unpacking specimens, preparing specimens for lab tests, data entry of patient information into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), following SOPs and ensuring that specimens are stored properly. This person will work under the direct supervision of the Accessioning Supervisor/Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1.Receives laboratory samples (urine, serum, plasma, CSF, etc.).
2.Accessions clinical samples in the Laboratory Management System (LIMS) following standard operating procedures (SOPs).
3.Ensures proper maintenance is performed on laboratory equipment and properly documented.
4.Manages any discrepancies in clinical samples.
5.Maintains a well-organized and clean work environment.
6.Ensures integrity of sample is maintained (proper storage of specimens, timely processing).
7.Reports issues, or deviations to a supervisor in a timely manner.
8.Accomplishes assigned tasks in a timely, accurate and compliant manner.
9.Will QC daily data entry
10.Participates in Laboratory compliance and quality plans on a regular basis to ensure regulatoryobligations are met.
11.Follows CLIA, CAP,HIPAA, OSHA, and related safety guidelines as described in their respectiveregulations.
12.Follows company policies and practices as outlined in all company resources, including,but not limited to, safety and compliance guidelines.
13.Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent required.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Previous medical or production experience is a plus.
- Clinical laboratory experience or related work environment preferred.
- Prior experience with Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) a plus.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
