Description:This position supports the Ted Stevens Center for Arctic Security Studies (TSC), located in Anchorage, AK. The TSC is the newest of six Department of War Regional Centers and has close ties to several Department of War combatant commands. This position will provide on-site support in Anchorage to the TSC's combatant command liaison.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and recommend vendors for logistical support, based on analysis and rationale of at least three sources, to support TSC combatant command programs
- Travel in support of domestic and international TSC combatant command programs and perform pre/onsite/post international event requirements. Conduct programs as assigned. Provide a summary of activities and content
- Assist with the scheduling and logistical planning of TSC events in support of combatant commands, including coordination with venues and service providers, participants, senior U.S. and foreign officials, combatant commands, and embassies
- Assist with the development and maintenance of multiple combatant command senior leader engagement and operational calendars
- Assist with creation and maintenance of spreadsheets and other administrative tracking programs and tasks related to TSC combatant command programs
- Research combatant command, HQ staff, and DoW priorities, as well as work across TSC divisional expertise to create concepts in support of planning and execution of TSC combatant command programs
- Provide input to and editing of executive summaries, reports, and assessments after a TSC combatant command activity is complete
- Research and identify subject matter experts who will participate and facilitate in TSC combatant command activities (backgrounds in government, military, academics, civil society, or other areas as directed)
- Conduct other duties as designated that are within the scope of this position
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the following areas:
- Planning executive-level and meetings and events, including experience in Washington DC (Pentagon), Anchorage, Fairbanks, and/or rural Alaska.
- Planning activities with military commands and HQ staffs, such as Combatant Commands, Joint Staff, and local Alaska Commands (ALCOM, 611th AOC, 11th Airborne Division, AK National Guard)
- Editing reports, executive summaries, and assessments for DoW senior leaders
- Coordinating senior leader actions, calendars, and meetings.
- Knowledge of military protocol (military ranks, etiquette, etc.)
- Executive-level customer service and communication skills
- Executive-level customer service experience with Department of War action officers, planners, and senior leaders
- Experience communicating and requesting military support, aircraft, and logistics for educational field activities, seminars, workshops, roundtables, etc.
Salary : $60,000 - $80,000
