The SCADA and Relay/Controls Engineer is responsible for supporting reliable and compliant operations by maintaining SCADA and Power Plant Controllers for solar power plants. This includes troubleshooting of any SCADA, relay and Power Plant Controller issues, coordinating with SCADA integrators to implement configuration changes or SCADA upgrades, providing commissioning oversight for new SCADA systems, and working with the OT and Compliance teams to ensure that SCADA systems meet networking cyber security and compliance requirements

The SCADA and Relay/Controls Engineer is responsible for supporting reliable and compliant operations by maintaining SCADA and Power Plant Controllers for solar power plants. This includes troubleshooting of any SCADA, relay and Power Plant Controller issues, coordinating with SCADA integrators to implement configuration changes or SCADA upgrades, providing commissioning oversight for new SCADA systems, and working with the OT and Compliance teams to ensure that SCADA systems meet networking cyber security and compliance requirements
Duties/Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot issues with SCADA and Power Plant Controllers, mainly GE/Emerson, SEL RTACs and Siemens RTUs
- Familiarity with HMI/SCADA platforms such as Ignition!, Cimplicity, Vantage, Merit, etc.
- Familiarity with solar transmission and distributed generation site devices such as sensors and associated relays, meters, cap banks, inverters, transformers
- DNP3, MODBUS, OPCUA, MQTT, SEL, TCP/IP protocol troubleshooting and configuration experience
- Coordinate with SCADA integrators to implement changes or SCADA upgrades
- Perform validation and quality control checks for new and existing SCADA systems
- Supporting implementation of NERC-CIP requirements, and other appropriate security frameworks
- SCADA design and implementation within a NERC-CIP environment. Experience specifically with Ignition! and GE Cimplicity preferred
- Ability to interpret electrical one-line diagrams and site control drawings
- Understanding and familiarity with solar and battery system logic for Power Plant Controller (PCC) functionality including Automatic Voltage Regulation and Frequency Response
- Understanding power plant operations and situational awareness needs for system operators while following relevant safety protocols
- Proficiency with SEL RTAC relay and network troubleshooting and configuration
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Team player
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field
- 4 years of relevant experience in SCADA or Industrial Automation and Control
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
