Though an intern, he is confident beyond his years, idealistic in his worldview, and assured of his black-and-white view of the world.

JOHN D’AGATA [THERE IS AN OFFER OUT FOR THIS ROLE] – (M) Age flexible/40s-50s, A prominent writer whose reputation for his finicky nature precedes his literary prowess. The “essay” that he has penned about the suicide of a teenage boy, submitted to the magazine, is powerful enough to save the publication from ruin. He is less concerned with the accuracy of his reporting then with telling a good story; a belief, he is sure, his audience shares.

EMILY PENROSE [THERE IS AN OFFER OUT FOR THIS ROLE] – (F) Age flexible/40s-60s, The fair but tough-as-nails editor of the magazine. She is put in the precarious position of being stuck in the midst of the ideological struggle between Jim and John. She is aware of her position, a mogul in an ecosystem of deteriorating knowledge, and of the social and political implications of printing mistruths. But she also wants and needs a powerful story for her magazine.

LUDIE WATTS – (M) 40s-50s, Carrie’s adult son who feels the toll that a hard life has taken on him. Generous, she struggles with the moral decision of whether to return Carrie to her family or let her pursue her one final wish.

SHERIFF – (M) 50s, Faced with the obligation to return Carrie to her family, he tries to find a way to allow an old woman to keep her dignity.
