Overview
Our client, a leading employee-owned engineering consulting firm specializing in power, renewable energy, transportation, and water infrastructure, is seeking a Transmission Line Engineer to design and support high-voltage transmission line projects (69kV–500kV). The ideal candidate will develop engineering deliverables, construction documents, and technical designs using PLS-CADD while collaborating with clients and multidisciplinary teams. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, transmission line design experience, and proficiency with industry-standard engineering software. PE licensure (or the ability to obtain it) and utility industry experience are highly preferred. This full-time remote opportunity is available to candidates located anywhere within the United States.
Pay rate: $104,800 - $141,900

- Design high-voltage transmission lines (69kV–500kV) using PLS-CADD software.
- Apply advanced engineering principles and techniques to solve complex transmission line design challenges.
- Develop and implement technical plans and systems for transmission line projects.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Serve as a client contact to define project scope and understand project requirements.
- Prepare transmission line construction documents and engineering deliverables.
- Develop project design criteria, plan and profile drawings, and construction specifications.
- Produce structure framing and loading drawings, assembly drawings, and foundation drawings.
- Coordinate specific engineering and design aspects of transmission line projects.
- Review project drawings, calculations, and specifications for technical accuracy.
- Estimate construction costs and specify project materials.
- Support the training and mentoring of junior engineers.
- Utilize evolving technologies and AI tools to improve workflows and project outcomes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- PE License required.
- Minimum 4 years of engineering experience.
- Minimum 3 years of transmission line engineering or closely related experience.
- Proficiency with PLS-CADD; PLS-POLE experience preferred.
- Utility industry experience preferred.
- Experience reviewing engineering drawings, calculations, and specifications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access); AutoCAD experience preferred.
- Experience with MFAD/LPILE preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to independently manage workload and complete assigned tasks.
- Experience collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Ability to maintain positive client relationships and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
- Strong verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to mentor less experienced engineers.
- Demonstrated adaptability and openness to new technologies and AI-driven tools.
- Authorization to work permanently in the United States.
