Responsibilities
- Apply standard structural engineering principles, techniques, and design criteria to complete engineering assignments.
- Develop engineering plans, specifications, calculations, and observation reports that meet quality and industry standards.
- Perform detailed structural design and evaluations for utility substation projects, including steel structures and foundation systems.
- Review and verify design calculations, drawings, and engineering work completed by others.
- Investigate and resolve design challenges through analysis, field observations, and innovative engineering solutions.
- Coordinate design activities and collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Recommend design improvements to enhance quality, efficiency, and constructability.
- Prepare technical reports, project documentation, and client correspondence.
- Interact with clients to understand project requirements and provide engineering support.
- Support project pursuits through business development, marketing, and technical proposal activities as needed.
- Work closely with engineering technicians and other engineers to ensure successful project delivery.
- Leverage emerging technologies and AI tools to improve workflows, problem-solving, and engineering efficiency.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field from an ABET-accredited program (or equivalent).
- Professional Structural Engineer (SE) license required.
- Minimum 7 years of structural engineering experience preferred.
- Experience with electrical utility substation layout and design preferred.
- Strong knowledge of structural steel design, drilled pier design, spread footing design, and detailing.
- Proficiency with structural analysis and design software such as MathCAD, STAAD, foundation design programs, or equivalent modeling tools.
- Knowledge of AISC and ACI design standards required; familiarity with ASCE and NESC standards preferred.
- Basic proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation preferred.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in both office and field environments.
- Authorization to work permanently in the United States required.
