Job Summary
Design and manage utility distribution projects for new and existing customers using GIS-based design systems. Perform field assessments, prepare engineering designs, coordinate with stakeholders, and ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective utility service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Design electric distribution systems for residential, commercial, and industrial customers.
- Create, update, and maintain engineering drawings using GIS software.
- Conduct field visits to gather site information and validate design requirements.
- Size transformers, determine conductor routing, and plan pole placements.
- Prepare construction work packages, bills of materials, and cost estimates.
- Coordinate with customers, contractors, engineers, and construction crews.
- Ensure designs comply with engineering standards, safety regulations, and applicable electrical codes.
- Manage multiple projects while meeting quality and schedule requirements.
- Use work management systems to monitor project progress and maintain project documentation.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Associate degree in GIS, Drafting, Engineering Technology, CAD, Mechatronics, Electronics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with GIS software (e.g., Smallworld, ArcGIS, or similar platforms).
- Basic knowledge of utility construction and electrical distribution systems.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Valid driver's license, if required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in electric or gas utility distribution design.
- Knowledge of GIS platforms, AutoCAD, and SAP.
- Familiarity with utility construction standards and engineering practices.
- Experience coordinating projects with internal teams, contractors, and customers.
