What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Writer position at Acro Service Corp?
Position Description
The Manufacturing Process Work Instruction Author is responsible for developing comprehensive, high-quality technical documentation that guides operators through the daily execution of CNC machining and welding tasks. This role serves as the critical link between engineering design and shop-floor execution. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team of Manufacturing Engineers, the Author will spend significant time on the production floor, collaborating directly with operators and engineers to observe processes, validate workflows, and design rigid, repeatable, and error-proof process steps. The primary goal is to eliminate ambiguity in production, reduce scrap, and ensure the consistent delivery of quality parts through standardized work instructions.
Skills Required
• Technical Writing: Ability to translate complex engineering specifications into clear, concise, and actionable step-by-step instructions for a diverse operator population. • CAD Proficiency: Experience with 3D modeling software to create visual aids, callouts, and detailed diagrams for work instructions. • Tooling & Fixturing Knowledge: Strong understanding of the design and application of machining and welding fixtures to ensure part stability and repeatability. • Interpersonal Communication: Exceptional ability to build rapport and collaborate with shop-floor personnel, actively listening to operator feedback to refine processes. • Process Analysis: Ability to identify potential failure points in a manufacturing sequence and implement "poka-yoke" (error-proofing) methodologies.
Experience Required
Manufacturing Environment: Proven experience working within a CNC machining and/or welding production environment. • Process Documentation: Demonstrated track record of authoring formal work instructions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), or process routings. • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience working in an integrated team environment, bridging the gap between engineering theory and practical shop-floor application. • Quality Standards: Familiarity with quality control checkpoints and the integration of inspection steps within a manufacturing process.
Education Required
Degree/Certification: An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field. • Alternative Qualification: Equivalent professional experience in a senior machining or welding lead role with a documented history of process improvement and technical writing.
Salary : $35 - $39
