Seeking a Hot Work Coordinator (HWC) to manage and coordinate all shipboard hot work activities during U.S. Navy ship repair projects. Responsible for processing and tracking hot work permits, maintaining daily hot work logs, coordinating with ship's force personnel, project teams, subcontractors, and fire safety representatives, and ensuring compliance with NAVSEA Standard Item 009-08 requirements. The role requires prioritizing and deconflicting hot work activities, monitoring safety procedures, preparing weekly reports and forecasts, and supporting shipboard fire prevention efforts.
Key Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of ship repair, shipyard, or maritime maintenance experience.
- Experience with hot work permits, welding, burning, cutting, brazing, or related operations.
- Knowledge of NAVSEA hot work processes and Standard Item 009-08.
- Experience working aboard U.S. Navy vessels or within naval ship repair environments.
- Understanding of shipboard safety, fire prevention, compartment layouts, and adjacent space requirements.
- OSHA 10 certification required.
- Ability to coordinate multiple contractors and work groups simultaneously.
- Experience maintaining logs, reports, and permit documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
