Work Schedule: Mon/Tue/Fri 9:30 am-6:00 pm Sun/Wed/Thu/Sat 7:00 am-3:30 pm (rotating weekends with Wed and Thu off)
Job Description:
The Post Overdose Response Team (PORT) peer recovery specialist conducts individual and community outreach visits in the field to connect individuals, their social networks, and communities to necessary resources after a confirmed or suspected overdose event. The peer recovery specialist works as a member of a team with a Case manager and uses their training and knowledge from lived experiences to engage and coach participants to navigate the system and to connect with the care they need, particularly to their situation. The peer recovery specialist is required to interact with diverse community partners and providers and to work directly with participants who are impacted by overdose through a lens of cultural humility and harm reduction
Qualifications:
- Delaware Certified Peer Recovery Specialist or able to obtain in the first 6 months of working.
- Past or present consumer of mental health or substance abuse services with a history of managing one’s own illness and experience working with people in the community.
- A sound understanding of mental health and/or substance abuse problems and treatments.
- Valid Driver's license and ability to maintain fleet service driving privilege.
- Ability to use good judgement, work well with others and maintain confidentiality.
- Familiarity with the community, able to use good judgment, and build good rapport with clients and community partners.
- Must have outreach experience with individuals and communities
