Founded in 1968 by Bill Russell, BRIA (Bill Russell Insurance Agency) initially represented a direct writer. In response to the changing needs of his clients, Bill changed the direction of the agency in 1980 by representing multiple carriers. In 1983, with the addition of Bob Russell as CFO and John Buchanan as Vice President, BRIA continued to steadily grow and adapt in the Texas business environment. BRIA added a risk management division in 2004 as a service to its clients. Today, BRIA remains locally managed and operated as a full-service, independent insurance agency committed to providing the highest levels of customer service coupled with the best coverage tailored to each customer’s needs.

We are excited to announce we are adding a Commercial Lines Account Manager to our growing team.  This position will be responsible for performing insurance functions necessary to support the agency processing claims, premiums, refunds, billings, file maintenance, policy changes, audits, new business & renewals, midterm policy changes. Interact with customers to provide information in response to inquiries about products and services and to handle and resolve complaints.

Interact with insurance companies to provide information in response to new submissions, underwriting, claims, changes, inquiries about policies, billings, coverages and services and to handle and resolve complaints.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Confer with customers in a timely manner by e-mail, fax, letter, telephone or in person in order to provide information about products and services, eligibility, underwriting, take change and claim requests, cancel policies, or to obtain details of complaints.
  • Confer with and submit to underwriters of insurance companies in a timely manner by e-mail, fax, letter, telephone or in person completed applications and underwriting information regarding customers and prospects necessary to help them determine pricing of policies and services, eligibility and additional underwriting information necessary to make a decision on customer’s and prospect’s requests.
  • Keep records of customer and prospect related interactions and transactions, recording details of inquiries, complaints, and comments, as well as actions taken using AMS 360.
  • Resolve customers' service or billing complaints by performing activities such as changing insurance companies, endorsing policies, contesting audits, requesting 2nd claims inspection, request change of adjuster and adjusting bills or billing method.
  • Check to ensure that appropriate changes were made to resolve customers' and/or insurance companies’ requests or problems
  • Determine charges for services requested, collect deposits or payments, and/or arrange for billing.      
  • Complete applications, change forms, claims forms, auto id’s, certificates and evidences of insurance, change of address records, and issue cancellation requests, using computers.
  • Review and update new and renewal policies, endorsements, audits, cancellations, etc. for accuracy and prepare correspondence to insured and/or carrier as needed.
  • Review applications and policies to identify and target new business lines for existing insured’s making recommendations on account rounding as appropriate.
  • Process new business, renewals, endorsements, cancellations, audits, set up pay options and premium notes and collects premiums due.
  • Refer unresolved customer grievances to management departments for further investigation.

           

Additional Functions:

  • Solicit sale of new or additional services or products.
  • Assist AE in coordinating with marketing during the marketing and quotation process.
  • Review insurance policy terms in order to help customers determine whether a particular loss is covered by insurance.            
  • Recommend improvements in policies, procedures, communication, service, or billing methods in order to increase efficiencies or prevent future problems.
  • Perform AAM functions when absent.
  • Clerical — Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.

Competencies

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or the recognized equivalent in education and experience, required
  • College degree is preferred
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of commercial lines experience required
  • Must possess or be in process of obtaining CISR designation.
  • Licensing – Texas General Agent’s Property and Casualty required
  • Maintain current knowledge of insurance principles and regulations, types of policies, coverages and exposures, markets available, rating, basis of coverage, underwriting and methods of payments.

 

    Technology Skills:

  • AMS 360, Epic or similar agency management software experience, required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
