About This Role
The Burlington Children's Space is seeking an Early Childhood Educator to join us as a full-time Infant/Toddler teacher. This teacher will work as part of a co-teaching team in a looping classroom. A State License in Early Childhood Education is preferred, and a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or Human Development is required. This position includes health insurance, paid sick and vacation hours, a free membership to Sangha Yoga Studio, and professional development opportunities within the field of Early Childhood Education.
About BCS
The Burlington Children's Space, housed in the McClure Multi-Generational Center in Burlington’s Old North End, is an economically and culturally diverse NAEYC accredited program. We offer early care and education for children from 6 weeks to 5 years old, and have five classrooms separated by age group, each with 6-10 children. Our teachers work collaboratively with the Howard Center as part of a Therapeutic Child Care partnership, and with Head Start and Early Head Start to provide services and resources to our families. We offer tuition on a sliding scale, and work with children from a variety of different backgrounds; currently, there are 7 languages spoken within the BCS community. We have a fabulous food program supported by local farms and our own garden plot in the Old North End of Burlington, where we grow vegetables and herbs in the spring and summer. We are a small, interconnected community that believes in the capacity of all children to learn and grow through compassionate care.

Nice To Haves
BCS is looking for an educator who has a deep interest in working in a Therapeutic Child Care center. A State License in Early Childhood Education is preferred. Experience working with children who have experienced trauma is desired, but not necessary, as we provide opportunities to learn more about the effects of chronic stress through Professional Development.

What You'll Do
This is a 40-hour, full-year position. Each classroom teacher is responsible for the following:
- Planning and implementing curriculum based on the interests and development of the children
- Collaborating as part of a non-hierarchical team of 3-4 co-teachers
- Meeting the children's hygiene needs and serving three meals daily prepared by our Chef
- Developing and sustaining meaningful relationships with children and families
- Regularly completing assessments using Teaching Strategies Gold, an online program we use in partnership with Head Start to track children's development and strengths
- Meeting weekly as a classroom team for planning, and at least monthly to develop individualized care plans and implementation strategies with the Howard Center, EEE or VFN and Early Head Start staff
- Participating in monthly Staff Meetings
- Participating in parent engagement activities using the Strengthening Families Framework; these include family dinners, open houses, Curriculum Night, and engaging families in curriculum related to their interests and backgrounds
