Position Summary
The Composite Technician has many responsibilities including detailed fabrication skills, proper vacuum bagging and debulk technique, thermal equipment operation and post-processing on cured parts. Technicians must have the ability to read and understand complex written instructions and follow strict quality protocols.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Create composite flat, assembled or molded parts using our client’s custom specifications. Follow Traveler document instructions to fabricate with various layers of peel ply and pre-preg carbon fiber to configure composite laminates:
- Demonstrated mastery of fabrication and bonding techniques
- Demonstrated mastery of vacuum-bagging technique
- Demonstrated mastery of debulk technique
- May be required to utilize thermal processing equipment and maintain Qualified Operator status
- May be required to perform post production processing: countersinking, bonding and finishing by filing, sanding, grinding, cleaning, cutting, deburring, trimming and hand-working materials
- Follow written instructions; read and understand Travelers, QPs (Quality Procedures) and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
- Follow standard document procedures, including filling out Travelers and initialing paperwork. Accurate and consistent manual and automatic data entry to ensure a complete and 100% error-free materials and manufacturing history
- Participate in continuous quality improvement training or retraining
- Maintain cycle time and pacing necessary for continuous and on-time material flow
- Make recommendations to improve overall process flow with maximum quality and efficiency in mind
- Follow verbal instruction from Manufacturing Supervisor, Manufacturing Manager or Quality Engineer
- Ensure a safe workplace by following all safety procedures
- Maintain an organized personal workspace
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Mechanically inclined, comfortable working with hand tools such as cutting tools and shaping tools
- Prior experience with composites fabrication a plus, composites education a plus
- Must possess math skills and problem-solving ability
- Working ability to read, understand and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Must be able to understand basic math, conversion, units of measurement and use of inspection tools
- Attention to detail and accuracy while working within fast-paced production environment
- Ability to understand ISO 9001 and AS9100 Quality Management Systems, must be able to adhere to strict ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality standards
- Ability to work with others in a team and take direction from multiple sources
- General understanding of Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel.
- Regular and punctual attendance
- Ability to work overtime as required

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
