General Shop Laborer

Overview

Acme Saw & Supply is seeking a dependable, motivated, and mechanically inclined General Shop Laborer to join our team. This position plays an important role in supporting our industrial sharpening, manufacturing, warehouse, and service operations. Responsibilities

• Assist with the sharpening, repair, and manufacturing of industrial saw blades, cutting tools, and related equipment.
• Operate shop equipment and machinery safely after receiving proper training.
• Load, unload, organize, and move materials throughout the shop and warehouse.
• Prepare customer orders for pickup or delivery while ensuring accuracy and quality.
• Inspect tools and products for defects, wear, and quality standards before shipment.
• Use hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and shop equipment safely and effectively.
• Assist with welding, grinding, cleaning, polishing, and other fabrication tasks as needed.
• Receive, stock, and organize inventory and maintain an orderly warehouse.
• Perform repetitive production tasks while maintaining a high level of accuracy and consistency throughout the workday.
• Maintain productivity while performing detail-oriented work that requires concentration and adherence to established procedures.
• Identify quality issues and ensure finished products meet Acme Saw & Supply's quality standards before moving to the next stage of production.
• Perform routine shop cleanup and help maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
• Work closely with shop personnel, drivers, and customer service staff to ensure timely completion of customer orders.
• Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support daily operations.

Qualifications

• Previous manufacturing, warehouse, machine shop, fabrication, mechanical, or industrial experience is preferred but not required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn specialized equipment and processes.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, grinders, and measuring equipment.
• Forklift experience is preferred but not required.
• Ability to read basic work orders, measurements, and instructions.
• Ability to remain focused and maintain accuracy while performing repetitive tasks.
• Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to producing consistent, high-quality work.
• Patience, dependability, and the ability to follow established procedures with minimal supervision.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to perform production work that requires precision and consistency throughout the day.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Valid California driver's license is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday.
• Comfortable working around machinery, metal products, and industrial equipment.
• Ability to work in varying shop temperatures while following all required safety procedures.
