The ACLU seeks a Graduate Intern in the EDIB (Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging) department of the ACLU’s National office in New York. This position is hybrid.

Qualifying applicants must currently be matriculated graduate students and must be based in the U.S. for the entire duration of the internship.

What You’ll Do:

The intern will be responsible for providing administrative support, advancing programmatic efforts, and working on designated special projects.

Your Day to Day

  • Collaborate with the Director, Equity and Inclusion, to plan and organize, a twelve-week EDIB program, gaining insight into program management and participant engagement.
  • Coordinate day-to-day logistics for EDIB events including scheduling, communications, and resource preparation to ensure smooth program operations.
  • Assist with data collection and evaluation efforts for EDIB programs, helping to track attendance, gather participant feedback, and contribute to program assessment and improvement.
  • Support special projects and initiatives of the EDIB team, applying problem-solving and organizational skills in a dynamic team environment.

What You’ll Bring:

  • An effective listener with high emotional intelligence and a highly collaborative style.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom/Teams) preferred.
  • Demonstrated passion for EDIB work; deep knowledge, research, and best practices for organizations on equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • A commitment to civil liberties, civil rights, and social and racial justice.

Internship Logistics:

  • Location: Our internship program offers a limited number of remote or hybrid intern positions. This internship is hybrid from our New York City office.
  • Time Commitment: Full-time (35 hours/week)
  • Internship Duration: Full-time internships span 10 consecutive weeks. This internship has a start date of: May 26th or June 8th
  • Stipend: A stipend is available for students who are lawfully authorized to work. Arrangements can be made with educational institutions for work/study or course credit.
    • Below are the stipend rates:
      • $24/hr for graduate and law students
