Job Title: Packaging Engineering Specialist 3
Location: Swedesboro, NJ (100% Onsite)
Duration: ~14 Weeks Contract
Shift: 1st Shift (7:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
Pay Rate: $51/hr
Job Summary
We are seeking a Packaging Engineering Specialist to support packaging design, material handling, and logistics operations for efficient and compliant product distribution. This role focuses on evaluating packaging solutions, optimizing warehouse operations, and ensuring compliance with domestic and international shipping regulations, including hazardous materials handling.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate packaging and material handling equipment to determine cost-effective solutions
- Review engineering drawings and technical specifications to support packaging design decisions
- Support procurement activities by researching equipment requirements and evaluating supplier quotations
- Develop and optimize packaging solutions for storage, transportation, and distribution efficiency
- Design warehouse material flow, storage layouts, and equipment utilization strategies
- Analyze storage requirements including volume, capacity, and handling equipment needs
- Ensure compliance with domestic and international shipping regulations, including hazardous materials (Dangerous Goods)
- Develop packaging instructions, labeling, marking, and documentation for shipments
- Support hazardous materials programs including training, compliance, and safety requirements (HM-232)
- Coordinate equipment calibration and maintain property control documentation
- Assist with budgeting, cost tracking, and financial justification for packaging and equipment
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Experience working with multiple systems/software tools
- Strong understanding of industrial packaging (Aerospace or Automotive preferred)
- Knowledge of warehouse operations and material flow
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with hazardous materials / dangerous goods transportation
- Familiarity with global shipping and compliance regulations
- Background in logistics, packaging engineering, or supply chain operations
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or some college in a technical field preferred
- Typically 6 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
