This position is responsible for handling incoming referrals from physicians, healthcare providers, self-referrals, and online inquiries. The Intake Coordinator ensures each patient receives seamless, compassionate experience by verifying insurance coverage, facilitating appointment scheduling, and maintaining clear and supportive communication throughout the patient journey.

Essential Job Functions
- Verify patients' insurance coverage and explore alternative options for treatment costs.
- Verify patients' insurance coverage and explore alternative financial options when necessary.
- Partner with the billing department to resolve insurance or payment-related concerns.
- Respond promptly to incoming inquiries from potential patients seeking urological or oncology care.
- Provide clear, informative responses about services and treatment options, addressing patient concerns with empathy.
- Maintain consistent communication with patients to nurture leads and assist them through the intake process.
- Explain the costs of services, insurance coverage, and available payment options to ensure patients make informed decisions.
- Secure pre-authorizations from insurance providers prior to scheduling consultations and imaging.
- Coordinate and schedule patient appointments in collaboration with physicians and clinic staff.
- Maintain accurate appointment records, documentation, and follow-up actions.
- Deliver exceptional patient support by maintaining positive relationships and providing timely updates and education.
- Support intake duties across all Ackerman Cancer Center locations, including satellite branches as needed
Required
- At least five years’ related experience in Customer Service in a medical environment is required.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in customer service within a medical or clinical setting.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology, patient intake processes, and healthcare operations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
