About the Company
Our client is a long-standing, stable metal manufacturing job shop specializing in high-precision metal stamping and forming. They produce complex, high-tolerance metal components serving the medical, automotive, and industrial sectors, including deep-drawn parts and multi-stage stamping. The facility also houses in-house finishing, plating, and coating capabilities.
Position Overview
The Quality Manager will take full ownership of the company’s Quality Management System (ISO 9001-2015) and lead a small, dedicated team within a 25-person unionized facility. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this role blends hands-on inspection work with leadership responsibility and oversight of all quality processes, documentation, and customer-facing quality deliverables.
This is a critical, high-impact position offering stability, a strong work-life balance, and a smooth transition supported by the retiring Quality Manager.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Management System (ISO 9001-2015)
Own and maintain the entire ISO 9001-2015 Quality Management System.
Manage QMS documentation, internal audits, and external certification preparation.
Ensure continual compliance and readiness for customer and third-party audits.
2. Team Leadership
Supervise, mentor, and support a small team of Quality Inspectors and Technicians in a union environment.
Establish training standards, ensure alignment to QMS procedures, and drive consistent quality performance.
3. Hands-On Inspection & Measurement
Perform precision dimensional inspections using:
Micrometers
Verniers/calipers
Optical comparators
Precision gauges
Verify that all products meet strict customer specifications for deep-drawn and stamped metal components.
4. Quality Documentation & Reporting
Prepare and manage key quality documentation, including:
PPAP (Production Part Approval Process)
First Article Inspection (FAI) reports
Statistical Process Control (SPC) data
Prepare customer-facing quality reports and certifications when required.
5. Corrective Actions & Problem Solving
Investigate and resolve customer complaints (CARs/SCARs).
Conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Improve processes in collaboration with operations, tooling, and the shop floor.
6. Shop-Floor Collaboration
Maintain excellent relationships within the unionized environment.
Partner closely with operations to uphold quality standards without disrupting production flow.
Work Environment & Schedule
- 4x10 schedule: Monday–Thursday, 7:00 AM–5:30 PM
- Guaranteed 3-day weekends
- Hands-on, on-site role (no remote)

Qualifications
Required Experience
- 5 years in a Quality Manager, Quality Supervisor, or QA/QC leadership role.
- Strong, proven experience managing an ISO 9001-2015 QMS.
- Hands-on dimensional inspection experience.
- Experience preparing PPAPs, FAIs, SPC reports.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership responsibility in a manufacturing setting.

Technical Competencies
- Strong understanding of precision tolerances.
