Position Overview
The Director of Compliance Audit is responsible for leading and managing the effective implementation of key components of the organization’s Ethics and Compliance Program across the health system. This position oversees a team of compliance professionals who design, implement, and monitor audit activities to ensure adherence to federal healthcare regulations, organizational policies, and the Code of Conduct and Ethics.
This includes ensuring compliance with guidance from regulatory bodies such as the Office for Civil Rights (OCR), Office of Inspector General (OIG), Department of Justice (DOJ), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and Texas Health and Human Services (HHS).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, execution, and oversight of the compliance audit program.
- Monitor organizational adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Conduct compliance risk assessments and design audit plans based on identified priorities.
- Ensure accurate evaluation of compliance control environments and recommend corrective actions.
- Develop and implement departmental goals and objectives aligned with organizational strategy.
- Manage budgets, staffing, and training programs for the compliance audit department.
- Supervise, coach, and evaluate compliance team members to maximize performance.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of compliance trends, rules, and audit standards.
- Apply data analytics to support audit lifecycle management and compliance evaluation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a clinical field, healthcare administration, business administration, or related discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle operations, audit, or compliance within a complex healthcare system or academic medical center.
- Proven experience leading teams and supervising staff.
- Strong knowledge of compliance auditing procedures and risk assessment.
- Expertise in developing and managing audit plans and compliance life-cycle processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills across multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and compliance reporting systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience utilizing data analytics to enhance audit and compliance performance.
- Prior exposure to large healthcare organizations or multi-entity systems.
