Position Overview
Our client is seeking a CNC Bending Operator to join their fast-paced sheet metal fabrication team. This role is ideal for someone with experience running CNC bending equipment who takes pride in producing high-quality parts to blueprint specifications. The successful candidate will be responsible for machine setup, production runs, quality checks, and contributing to continuous improvement efforts within the CNC department.
Key Responsibilities
CNC Machine Operation
- Set up and operate CNC bending machines; machine-specific experience is a plus.
- Assist in troubleshooting operational or programming issues on CNC bending equipment.
- Run production orders with accuracy and consistency, ensuring components meet required specifications.
Quality & Inspection
- Read and interpret blueprints to verify correctness of dimensions and tolerances.
- Inspect parts using precision tools such as:
- Calipers
- Protractors
- Tape measures
- Ensure all parts meet quality standards before moving to the next work center.
Department Support & Workflow
- Support CNC department operations and special projects to meet production timelines.
- Participate in daily shop floor management meetings and SYNCHRO Plus activities (SFM, TK, IK).
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, safety, and waste reduction.
Safety & Equipment Care
- Safely operate overhead cranes and forklifts.
- Maintain bending machines, tooling, and work areas through 5S and TPM maintenance activities.
- Follow all company safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs regularly.
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive production tasks.
Qualifications
Required
- 1–2 years of experience operating CNC bending equipment.
- Prior manufacturing experience (sheet metal or fabrication preferred).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and quality.
- Ability to use measuring tools and follow standardized manufacturing processes.
Preferred
- Experience with metal fabrication equipment.
- Forklift or crane experience/certification.
- Exposure to Lean/5S or continuous improvement practices.
Work Environment & Schedule
- 2nd shift schedule: 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM
- On-site position; no remote options.
