Position Summary
The Counselor at the Wolf Creek Job Corps Center plays a vital role in supporting the personal, social, and career development of Job Corps students. This position provides guidance to help students set meaningful goals, overcome barriers to success, and remain engaged in their educational and vocational training.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counseling to students on personal, social, and career-related issues
- Assist students in setting and achieving personal and career goals
- Support student retention and engagement through proactive guidance and mentoring
- Maintain accurate and confidential case records in compliance with program standards
- Refer students to external resources and community services when additional support is needed
- Collaborate with center staff to ensure a holistic approach to student success
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field required
- Experience working with youth or young adults in an educational, counseling, or social services setting preferred
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse environment and build positive relationships with students
- Knowledge of counseling techniques, goal-setting strategies, and referral processes
