What are the responsibilities and job description for the Event Manager, Achilles International - Connecticut position at Achilles International?
Position Purpose:
The Event Manager, Achilles International - Connecticut, is a part time (20 hr/week position). The job holder will be responsible for overseeing logistics for races, group workouts, and social events for the Connecticut Chapter. The position is a combination of remote and in-person in the Guilford office (administrative), and on-site for races and group workouts (held on weekends-dates provided in advance).
Major tasks and responsibilities of position:
1. Oversee and collaborate with workout coordinators regarding group workout locations
and schedules throughout the year (both indoor and outdoor).
- Create, maintain and monitor the Chapter’s group workout planning sheets/rosters.
- Oversee training of workout captains in collaboration with coordinators.
2. Serve as the administrator for Connecticut Chapter races throughout the year, including the creation of the annual race calendar.
- Serve as the point of contact for race directors, ensuring course safety and accommodations as needed.
- Collaborate with the Program Coordinator to develop and implement registration processes/deadlines for athletes and their guides.
- Develop, communicate, and oversee race day logistics for Team Achilles CT (including on-site support).
- Assist Chapter Director with logistics for out of state/international races in which Connecticut athletes participate (e.g. Boston Marathon, NYC Marathon, international marathons as applicable).
3. Assist in planning Chapter social events to build community (e.g “Spring Training” Summer social and Annual Awards Night/Year-End Celebration)
Work relations:
- Reports to the Connecticut Chapter Director
- Manages workout coordinators and race day volunteers
- Collaborates with the Connecticut Chapter’s Program Coordinator, Program Assistant, and Executive & Leadership Teams
Key competencies:
- Event management and supervisory experience preferred.
- Consistent and reliable, able to deliver a high quality team event at each race, workout and social event.
- Organized and aware of relevant deadlines, etc.
- Detail oriented, ensuring all participants are trained properly for races and athlete/volunteer data is well managed using Rosterfy (training provided).
- Strong public speaking skills and communication skills (verbal, written).
- Knowledge of all Achilles programs and inner workings of Connecticut Chapter operations (training provided).
- Ability to lift 25 lbs.
- Valid driver’s license (will be driving a U-Haul van/truck on race day)
