About the Role
We are seeking a senior-level Draftsman/Engineer with extensive experience in high-end woodworking, cabinetry, and architectural millwork. The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with 15–20 years of hands-on, technical experience who can independently engineer and draft complex, custom projects from concept through completion.
This role requires creativity, strong problem-solving abilities, and the ability to produce precise shop drawings for luxury residential and commercial woodworking projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed shop drawings for custom cabinetry, kitchens, vanities, panel rooms, staircases, exterior millwork, and specialty built-ins.
- Engineer projects independently, including load considerations, structural design, and hardware integration.
- Convert architectural plans into accurate, production-ready drawings.
- Research and incorporate hardware specifications (hinges, sliders, lift systems, pop-up mechanisms).
- Integrate specialty features such as hidden panels, shared pockets, screens, and automated components.
- Ensure all drawings are precise, feasible, and ready for fabrication.
- Collaborate with production teams, installers, and project managers.
- Solve engineering challenges creatively and practically.
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, detail, and drafting quality.
Required Experience & Skills
- 15–20 years of drafting and engineering experience in high-end woodworking
- Extensive knowledge of cabinetry, millwork, architectural wood components, and fabrication methods
- Ability to engineer and design projects independently
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD or comparable drafting software
- Ability to read, interpret, and create advanced technical drawings
- Strong problem-solving and creative engineering skills
- Experience managing highly detailed, one-off custom projects
- Mature, reliable, and able to perform consistently in a busy shop environment

- $35–$45 per hour ($72,800–$93,600 annually) depending on experience
