About the role
This position provides one-on-one residential support to an adult male client with complex behavioral and support needs in a supported living setting. This is a close-supervision role requiring consistent presence, professional boundaries, and strong de-escalation skills. You will work as part of a 2:1 daytime staffing team alongside another qualified DSP.
Responsibilities
- Provide continuous line-of-sight supervision during all waking hours per the client's support plan
- Support daily living activities including hygiene, meals, household tasks, and medication management
- Facilitate safe community outings and social engagement in accordance with behavioral protocols
- Implement de-escalation and redirection strategies using Positive Behavior Support principles
- Document all shift activity accurately in Therap electronic records
- Communicate proactively with the Program Director and team on any behavioral observations or concerns
- Maintain professional boundaries at all times, including during community outings
Requirements
- Male applicants only — this is a bona fide occupational requirement based on client care needs
- Minimum 1 year of experience supporting adults with IDD, behavioral health needs, or related fields
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress or behavioral crisis situations
- Valid Washington State driver's license and reliable transportation
- Must pass DSHS criminal history background check
- High school diploma or GED required; college coursework in human services, psychology, or related field preferred
- CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
