AF Providence High School is looking to hire a Head Cheerleading Coach for our Competition Cheerleading Program. The ideal candidate will have prior cheerleading and/or coaching experience at the high school, college, semi-pro, or pro levels. Duties include planning and coaching practices 3-4 times per week, attending and coaching at all AF Providence High athletic events, building relationships with student-athletes, and fostering an environment that focuses on character, courage, sportsmanship, and teamwork. The Head Cheerleading Coach will also be responsible for attending any and all practices at private cheer facilities. The Head Cheerleading Coach reports to the Athletic Director. 

Responsibilities:

6-8 hours per week of practice time

  • Create a positive, motivating and healthy team culture
  • Plan and execute practice plans towards the ultimate goal of a safe and challenging environment for student-athletes to improve their capabilities.
  • Utilize school sponsored communication systems to keep students and their families up to date on team information.
  • Choreograph and adjust team routines for competition.

Team leadership responsibilities

  • Collaborate with coaches, athletic administration and school leadership to maintain a safe team culture.
  • Maintain team budget expenses with athletic administration and school operations through the appropriate channels
  • Keep inventory of all team issued equipment and uniforms.
  • Keep inventory of school-issued keys and return upon the completion of the season.
  • Attending all RIIL, PHS, or Coaches Association meetings during the pre-season, season, and post-season.

Skills and Characteristics 

  • Strong instructional and sport management skills. 
  • High level of personal organization and planning. 
  • Embraces feedback as an opportunity for growth, openly listening and reflecting on input from others.

Educational Background and Work Experience

  • Experience working with high school students, with two years of cheer coaching experience preferred. 
  • CPR/First Aid certification 
  • All RIIL and NFHS required coaching certifications active through the coaching season (August 22- November 15)

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Bilingual
  2. Playing and coaching experience at the secondary, collegiate, or pro/semi-pro levels

Compensation

  • As an assistant coach at Achievement First Providence High School, you will receive a stipend between $1,400-$2,100 at the conclusion of the season, scaled based on the hours required and the amount of time spent with Providence HS.
