Time Type: Full time Department: CC017620 UAMS Contract - General Summary: Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm Additional Information: Surgical Services Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm Will manage a staff of 20 (combination of Surgery Schedulers & Administrative Assistants) Minimum 5 years administrative/clerical experience required Prior leadership experience required (or Aspire program completion for internal candidates) Oversees administrative functions. Assists with the preparation and maintenance of all section budgets (e.g., annual, grants, contracts). Hires, trains, coordinates and supervises administrative staff. Maintains contract billings, equipment purchases, and contract payments. Works in collaboration with the hospital leaders of surgery services to include: orthopedics, plastics, general, trauma, burn, urology, dermatology, neurosurgery, otolaryngology, cardiovascular surgery, and other procedural related services. Required Education: High school diploma or GED or equivalent Recommended Education: Bachelor's Degree Required Work Experience: 5 years of relevant experience with HS/GED; or 7 years of experience in lieu of a HS Diploma/GED. Demonstrated readiness through either prior leadership experience, or, for internal candidates, successful completion of the ASPIRE program. Recommended Work Experience: Leadership - 4 years of progressively responsible leadership experience preferred. Required Certifications: Recommended Certifications: Description 1. Assists surgical service chiefs and all faculties with budget related issues during the fiscal year and prepares for the next fiscal year. 2. Maintains a working knowledge of all active service accounts, oversight of all expenses related to administrative functions of service, educational funds, research funds, discretionary funds. 3. Processes and manages all regular and purchase requests/orders, follows-up on any outstanding invoices or balances. 4. Provides administrative support and coordination services. 5. Responsible for hiring, training, supervising and coordinating other administrative staff within the section including work assignments. 6. Serves as a liaison for the Surgical Service Section with all UAMS and AC departments in addition to daily communications with internal/external physician's offices and vendors. 7. Assists with faculty and fellow recruitment activities as well as coordinates residency rotations and fellowship training programs in coordination with the GME programs at UAMS.
