Work Shift: Day Shift Time Type: Full time Department: CC014250 Acute Care Pharmacy Summary: Monday-Friday. 8am - 4:30pm. Salary: Most new hires start between $20.50-$25.60 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Additional Information: The Pharmacy Technician Specialist – Sterile Compounding serves as a technical expert within sterile compounding operations and supports the pharmacy’s compliance with USP <797>, USP <800>, and applicable state and federal regulations. This role provides advanced oversight of cleanroom processes, environmental monitoring coordination, and competency validation activities to ensure safe, accurate, and compliant sterile medication preparation. The Specialist partners with pharmacy leadership to strengthen regulatory readiness, enhance workflow efficiency, and promote a culture of quality and patient safety. This position functions as a mentor and resource for sterile compounding staff and plays a key role in continuous improvement initiatives within sterile operations. Required Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) Recommended Education: Associate's Degree in a related field of study. Required Work Experience: Recommended Work Experience: Required Certifications: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) – PTCB - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), Pharmacy Technician - AR State Board of Pharmacy Recommended Certifications: Advanced Certified Pharmacy Technician Certification - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), Certified Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician (CSPT®) - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Description 1. Serves as subject matter expert for sterile compounding operations in compliance with USP <797> and USP <800> standards. 2. Coordinates environmental monitoring activities including viable and non-viable air sampling, surface sampling, and documentation tracking. 3. Supports aseptic technique competency validation including media fills, gloved fingertip testing, and direct observation auditing. 4. Assists with cleanroom workflow optimization and standard work development to improve efficiency and reduce contamination risk. 5. Collaborates with Pharmacy Leadership and Quality teams to prepare for regulatory inspections and internal audits. 6. Participates in investigation and documentation of sterile compounding deviations and implements corrective actions as directed. 7. Assists in maintaining policies and procedures aligned with current Board of Pharmacy and USP standards. 8. Serves as a technical resource and mentor for sterile compounding technicians. 9. Other duties as assigned.
