We provide design-build and construction management services to carry out collaborative visions for hospitality, senior living, healthcare, and commercial markets.

Position Summary

The Estimator is responsible for building relationships with subcontractors and owners to accurately project the costs of construction projects, from conceptual design through final bid submission. Reporting to the Director of Estimating, this role works closely with project managers, subcontractors, architects, and clients to develop comprehensive project budgets and proposals that support the company's growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

•      Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors and owners to accurately project construction costs

•      Develop and coordinate comprehensive, detailed estimating strategies for large, small, and complex commercial projects, and assess associated project risks

•      Develop thorough scopes of work and evaluate proposals for potential risks and best value for clients

•      Review plans, specifications, and contract documents to prepare detailed quantity surveys and material, labor, and equipment takeoffs

•      Appraise and value engineer project cost drivers

•      Prepare proposals ranging from preliminary concept budgets to final bids and GMPs (Guaranteed Maximum Price)

•      Manage multiple projects and bids simultaneously, coordinating workload to meet deadlines

•      Compare active budgets to historical cost data to confirm estimate accuracy

•      Present estimates and proposals clearly to clients in a manner suited to their needs and preferences

•      Foster new and existing relationships with trade partners and clients for long-term partnerships

•      Assist operations staff with project scheduling, phasing, safety, and logistics planning

•      Anticipate issues and prepare options to resolve them

•      Attend pre-bid meetings, site walks, and project kickoff meetings, with occasional travel to project sites for initial meetings

•      Track historical cost data and market trends to improve estimating accuracy

•      Collaborate with project management and operations teams during project handoff

•      Maintain organized documentation of estimates, bid results, and awarded contracts

Qualifications

Required

•      Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)

•      3 years of commercial construction estimating experience

•      Strong understanding of construction means, methods, materials, and building systems across all trades

•      Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Bluebeam Revu for takeoffs and estimates

•      Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction drawings

•      Strong analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills

•      Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team to build long-lasting relationships

Preferred

•      Experience with GMP and design-build project delivery

•      Pre-construction experience with preliminary conceptual budgeting

•      Existing relationships with regional subcontractors and suppliers

•      Experience on private commercial projects including institutional, educational, senior living, hospitality, and healthcare

Salary : $75,000 - $95,000
