Job Summary:
The Packaging Machine Operator Operate machines to prepare industrial products for storage or shipment. He/She will be responsible of the equipment and ensure proper set up, start up, shut-down procedures and safe operation. The operator will play a key role in improving safety, quality, productivity, and cost on existing manufacturing processes.
Essential Responsibilities
- Mark products, workpieces, or equipment with identifying information.
- Measure dimensions of completed products or workpieces to verify conformance to specifications.
- Sort materials or products for processing, storing, shipping, or grading.
- Inspect finished products.
- Notify others of equipment repair or maintenance needs.
- Clear equipment jams.
- Monitor equipment operation to ensure that products are not flawed.
- Remove products or workpieces from production equipment.
- Watch operating equipment to detect malfunctions.
- Package products for storage or shipment.
- Lubricate production equipment.
- Repair production equipment or tools.
- Clean production equipment.
- Adjust temperature controls of ovens or other heating equipment.
- Feed materials or products into or through equipment.
- Stack finished items for further processing or shipment.
- Maintain inventories of materials, equipment, or products.
- Count finished products or workpieces.
- Record operational or production data.
- Prepare materials for processing.
- Sew clothing or other articles.
- Clean materials to prepare them for production.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 to 12 months on-the-job training manufacturing similar.
- Operate tool functions in full production mode.
- Determine error codes and restart or next steps to resume operations.
- Basic trouble shooting on error codes - determine fault condition.
- Identify material status - replenishment and schedule.
- Able to read and interpret SPC charts, trends and out of control tool station patterns.
- Able to work with technicians and engineers to further develop tool knowledge and ownership.
- Able to support process or tool experiments.
- Work in a team environment.
